About Alisha

Born in Italy and raised by their maternal grandparents, Alisha was the only child of an Egyptian Father and Italian Mother, making her the only person of colour in their farmers' village in the Italian countryside.

Despite lacking guidance regarding her unique experiences while being raised by the white side of her family, Alisha persevered through institutional and systemic racism, misogyny, queerphobia, and ableism, ultimately becoming the first person in her family to attend university. She aimed to transcend the limitations of her upbringing.

Alisha focused her studies on communication, marketing, and sociology in pursuit of a career in the music industry. She landed her first job at MTV Italy, which later transitioned into a permanent position at the UK offices in London. Following that, she worked in the promotional departments of record labels such as Warner Music before earning her MA in Music Business Management from the University of Westminster in London.

Facing challenges stemming from her undiagnosed autism and the lack of reasonable adjustments, Alisha transitioned to freelance and consulting work within the music and entertainment media industry. By 2017, she had become a full-time content creator, producing content, research, and brand marketing for various social brands.

Her passion and personal interests led her to become an independent researcher in Gender Studies, Decolonization, Immigration, Disability, and LGBTQI+ Rights, with a particular focus on trans rights as she navigated her own identity as a non-binary person while supporting her spouse through their transition.

Together with her spouse, Raven Gough, Alisha moved from London (which she still considers her hometown due to the time spent there as an adult) to Cardiff, the capital of Wales. In this vibrant, multifaceted community, Alisha found a home and has now become a cornerstone of it, particularly as a member of Glitter Cymru since 2022. Within less than a year, she was invited to join the Glitter committee as the Education and Training lead, leveraging her expertise in Black Feminism, Gender Studies, and LGBTQI+ Rights to develop intersectional equity, diversity, and inclusion educational training and content for organizations committed to genuine solidarity and change. She is also the Chair and main Event Organiser for Glitter Siblings, the branch of Glitter dedicated to marginalised genders.

In her spare time, Alisha continues to research and learn about Black Feminist and anti-capitalist theory and enjoys consuming audiovisual content that is more accessible to her due to her dyslexia. She also produces content in the form of accessible videos and essays that analyse the intersection of feminism and activism in the modern revival of witchcraft, becoming a pillar of the "witchtube" community under the moniker of Activist Witch.
